A dividend adjustment is applied when a share passes its ex-dividend date (including the ex-date of any special dividend) in the underlying stock market. In the case of long positions, the dividend adjustment is credited to the client's account. In the case of short positions, the dividend adjustment is debited from the client's account. Below there is an example of calculation:

For example, American Express Company (AXP) declares date of dividend for the sum of USD0.15 per share as 21 May 2007. The ex-dividend date is 3 July 2007.

If you have an open long CFD position on 3 July 2007 (1 lot – 1000 shares) than a sum of 1000 х 0.15 = 150 USD is added to your trading account.

If you have an open short CFD position on 3 July 2007 (1 lot – 1000 shares) than a sum of 1000 х 0.15 = 150 USD is subtracted from your trading account.

The dividend adjustment will be added/subtracted from your trading account within 3 months after the ex-dividend date.
